Fareesh S. Sarangi – DUI Accidents Attorney

Drunk driving collisions are a big problem in Georgia. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), in 2012 there were more than 9,000 drunk driving collisions in Georgia, with 5,700 injuries, and 301 deaths. Drunk driving collisions present unique challenges that make them very different from a standard motor vehicle collision.

Fareesh spent the first five (5) years of his legal career as a public defender in the Bronx, New York, and over the course of his criminal defense career Fareesh represented hundreds of drunk drivers. Through that experience, he knows the “tricks of the trade” that drunk drivers use to get away with their crimes, and to minimize their fault.

If you or a loved one has been injured by a drunk driver, or a driver under the influence of drugs, call Fareesh before you talk to the insurance adjuster. They are professionals who know all the damages that you could pursue, and all the damages you are entitled to, and their only job is to make sure they get out of the case by paying you the lowest amount you will take to settle your case. What you don’t know can hurt your case, and once you sign something, you may be signing away your rights to significant additional compensation.

You are often entitled to the following damage recoveries when you are injured by a drunk driver:

  • Compensatory Damages: These are the full set of standard damages you are entitled to in a standard motor vehicle collision (past medical expenses, future medical expenses, past lost wages, future lost wages, pain and suffering, loss of spousal support and enjoyment of life, etc.)
  • Punitive Damages: These are special damages the law allows to specifically punish the driver for making reckless and irresponsible choices the driver made. These damages are in addition to the Compensatory damages listed above, and can often be worth 5 to 10 times the Compensatory damages.
  • Bar/Restaurant/Liquor Store: In Georgia, under specific conditions, the establishment that sold alcohol to the person who injured you can also be held responsible for your injuries, and you may be entitled to recovery from the business in addition to all the damages listed above.
  • Social Host: Even if the driver who injured you got drunk at a private home, you may be entitled to recover damages from that individual’s homeowners insurance if specific facts can be proven.

You need an experienced attorney who understands how drunk drivers defend themselves, and how to use the legal system to get you every penny of compensation you are entitled to. Usually, once you sign anything sent by the insurance company, you will lose your right to get any additional compensation from the drunk driver, or any other at-fault party.

The drunk driver that injured you has an entire insurance company and team of lawyers representing them, with professionals whose job is to get you to take the least money possible and send you away. Shouldn’t you have a professional representing you?
